Been to daughter nativity play, so lovey to see them all blinged in their costumes (she was an angel)Love
What ruins it is the siblings screaming and not taken out so we can hear what the children are sayingSad.
Good thing tho I got the one and only disabled parking outside schoolSad and not considered by the school as "disabled" enough to go in the hall early to take a seat...........ohhh well next year I will keep emailing and ringing them to ask if I can go in early!!!!!

Lovely play, shame I could not hear it all the way throughLOL LOL

Hi Jane,
I have just come back from seeing my 4th and last xmas nativity, two in one school one in another and one in church! We've had a cow, an angel, an innkeeper, a narrater and a stage hand!!
The grandchildren nearly all seem to have been in seperate ones this year!

I have loved them all, its interesting to see how much more confident they become as they get older.

Last night my 7yr old grandaughter picked out a raffle ticket belonging to her 10 year old sister!!
She chose a pink xmas treeBigGrin
Unfortunately when her 4yr old brother saw it he burst into tears, feeling tired after these later nights, he definately did not want a pink tree in the lounge Sad
They have now compromised and she's having it in her bedroom with the usual one downstairs. Smile

Putting mine up this weekend, hope to get lots of helping hands! BigGrin

Yes we have our tree up, looks good, my daughter did most of it, 23yr old but still a child at heart when it comes to Christmas.
I envy you all, going to nativities etc, I don't have any grandchildren yet, so have all that to look forward too.
I agree, younger siblings should be taken out if they are making a lot of noise, the kiddies put so much effort into learning lines etc its a shame when you can't hear them.

Hi All - I'm getting far more excited about Xmas this year. I was so poorly last year that it all just seemed too much effort. I'm not doing as much as I used to when my kids were littler, but we're still big into decorations. My eldest daughter and her boyfriend helped me put the room decs up and the lights outside on Dec 1st. But I said no tree until my son gets back from uni! I hope he plays along with me, he does usually, so I do hope that when he returns he hasn't grown up so much that he's outgrown that little ritual. We'll have a real tree and lots of chocolate decorations - he's back tomorrow so I guess I'd better go and buy the tree very soon!!!

I used to love the nativities - it's been a couple of years since my youngest left primary, but we always went and shed a tear or two. So glad to hear that the nativity is still going strong and the season of glitter and sparkly bits is upon us. I expect you'll soon be getting the Xmas cards and calendars hand made by the children in cutting and sticking classes - oh what lovely days they were.

love Sylvia xx

I have today booked off - going to my daughter's school to help out with their christmas lunches - I'm looking forward to helping out and seeing the children getting excited in the run up to christmas.

My daughter says she is proud of me helping outWub

School breaks up for christmas on friday, we have a carol service thursday eve - we will take a fleece blanket and some sweets - my daughter says she doesn't want to go out when its dark for the church service, I said neither do I but it will be a lovely thing to do and we get to sing!!!!LOL

Anyone have xmas things going on this week?

Hi Jane
I've read your posts in reverse order, so now I understand why your knee gave you such pain later on. You should've known better than standing for hours on end serving stuffing and pigs in duvets - tut tut!! I'm only joking - I understand totally!!

You and your daughter obviously enjoyed yourselves and that's a delight. They are not young for very long so enjoy it while she's still little!! Just remember that you're not superwoman and you do need to look after yourself too.

Do you finish work on Friday too? I'm looking forward to having a nice quiet Christmas. I've got my turkey ordered and I'll pick that up from my favorite farm shop on Sunday - I've already got a chunk of beef hiding in the freezer for Boxing Day, so I only need to get the veg sorted out. We're planning to go clothes shopping between Christmas and New Year - the girls will have their christmas money from grandparents so hopefully we'll have fun mooching round the shops together.

Love and hugs - Sylvia xx

BigGrin Hi Sylvia

You are organised with your meat shopping!
Sounds lovely you and your daughters spending time together shopping - wonder what bargins you will buy! Be lovely to soak up the seasonal time off with them.

Work for me, I'm off till the weekend then off next week and working next weekend (sat in office taking calls) I expect time will zoom by for me to hurry up home.

We are terrible for xmas food shop - do it a day or two before early as we can be organised, dressed, fed then do battle!!LOL
This is a freebie shop because I save sainsbugs reward (nector card) and spend on the xmas food shop.
Xmas lunch is the only roast dinner we have each year with us working shifts and my hubby always cooks it!ThumpUp so my daughter and I have time together where I'm sure she will be playing with her new toys and I join inLOL
We talk my hubby into a few roast dinners over xmas/new year because we off......we are easily pleasedTongue

I know, over did the knee thing but it was well worth seeing my daughter enjoying her xmas lunch with her school friends - the smell of school dinners did not appeal. I was shocked that the school does not cook in their kitchens, instead they are cooked and delivered to the school then have slots on an industrial hot plate trolley which gets plugged into a socket - she normally has packed lunch (hasn't times changed from school cooks)Confused

Today is the class party, I did pineapple and chopped cheese up - put both in sep tubs and no sticks in case of injuriesRazz but most parents have donated choc biscuits/pink wafers and chocolate. I was going to do cucumber and a dipping sauce (but may of been wasted).

Nearly all parcel deliveries with mine and my hubby selections have arrived except for a tub of pink lego - I'm loving the chance of staying in to wait for parcel man on this rainy day!Wink

How is everyone's plans coming along for xmas?
Xxx

Working in a primary school is lovely at this time of year. Yesterday I was in charge of making 40 large chocolate drops with them (2 each-lots away with norvo virus). Then today I've helped them take them out of the moulds and put them in boxes they've made. Break up tomorrow, and then break up from my upper school job on Friday.
At the upper school we have been teaching the girls AND boys to knit, crochet, french knit etc and we hope to make a blanket to donate to the RSPCA. We play Xmas songs for the hour before school and enjoy having a good old singalong, especially the 12 Days of Christmas!
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

We`ve just been to our second Nativity play in a week, watching our two little grandsons - they make Christmas really, though I have to confess I was pleased I`d taken a supply of tissues for those "lump-in-the-throat" moments!

We`ve put our tree up at last, and are now looking forward to spending Christmas with the family - sons, daughter-in-law and Grandsons all together at my youngest son`s house in York - `twill be noisy but nice!"

I'm off shopping with my eldest daughter this afternoon - the 18 year old. Hoefully she's now old enough to enjoy the traditions all over again!! Probably not want to sit on Santa's knee, but you never know!

She can help me get all the pressies that I've forgotten to order on-line - straighteners for my youngest (13 yr old), because the others are fed up that she spends SSOOOOO long nicking their straighteners. And I'll get something silly for my son (we'll go shopping for clothes when the sales start, so he'll have to wait for his main pressies)

I went to the staff Xmas do last night - what fun! It was very noisy with a quiz and casino and so many santa hats!!!! - got home late and am having a rest this morning - bliss

Hope you enjoyed your Xmas shopping - getting parked was the biggest problem yesterday - inside the store was fine.

I'm just having a sad goodbye to my trusty old sewing machine!!! RIP. I was tryng to sew up the lining of my daughter's favorite bag, when lots of smoke billowed forth - my goodness did we move quick!!!! Any way, she's spent the last hour dismantling it to see the burnt out motor - things we do for curiosity - I'm sad to see it go, my Singer and I have made a lot of weird and wonderful stuff together over the past 35 years!!! I don't do much sewing these days, but it's always been part of me, so now I may have to get a new machine - just in case!!!

Misty's definitely in season - she spent all last night trying to nurse her squeaky toy!

Love to all - keep watching the NORAD santa tracker - he's currently heading for Japan!

Sylvia xx

BigGrin Hiya
Back from supermarket before 1000 this morning parking wasn't too bad, shop was lovely and quiet! As we were at the checkout seemed more people had decided to join the madness!LOL

Got everything on the shopping list and fresh veggies!BigGrin

Picture the scene in our house now, cbeebies on - daughter on my lap playing a game on her dads ipadRazz hubby wrapping his gifts to us (sounds like a lot of sellotape being used)!!!LOL Confused Smile dogs snoring away next to me!

Glad we went out early so we can chill out.

Ohh no Sylvia amazing how long sewing machines last for....have a look in the January sales or online?Smile

Sweet when dogs in season and they nest with their teddy bears! Poppy gets cheesed off and bossy with our other cavavlier and growls at him when she is in season (takes no messing) charlie tries to push Poppy but she wins!Wub LOL other times she is very quiet and laid back!

Let us know how your shopping adventure for a new machine goes.

What a busy evening!
We have tooth fairy and santa on way!

My daughter lost her tooth whilst eating gingerbread earlier, her dad has been on his hands and knees to check the laminate flooring.LOL LOL so she has wrote a little note to tell tooth fairy its gone!
That was tooth 2 that she lost/ate.

Tooth fairy (me) has just left some pennies for her and tooth fairy stickers to say she had been! Got them online from amazon) in case you wonder.

Santa (hubby) been carrying gifts downstairs and rustling away! I added further demand by asking him to pop a pre-stick bow on gifts!LOL

I'm lying in bed waiting for him to come to bed so I can trade empty stocking for a full stocking on my daughter bedroom doorBigGrin ThumpUp

And christmas is nearly here!

Hi Jane - what a magical time for you. So lovely, with all the creepng around in the dead of night trying not to make any noise, as you finish off Santa's glass of sherry and mincepie, and try to make a convincing attempt on Rudolph's carrot. One year I got carried away and tried to recreate muddy hoofprints..... ho hum. Happy days

Have a yummy Boxing DAy - Sylvia xx
